EPBC Act Referral for Captains Mountain Wind Farm Now Open for Public Comment

EPBC Act Referral for Captains Mountain Wind Farm Now Open for Public Comment

As part of the development of the Captains Mountain Wind Farm project, we have submitted an Environmental Protection and Biodiversity Conservation (EPBC) Act Referral for assessment.

Under the EPBC Act, proponents of wind farm projects must evaluate whether their activities could impact Matters of National Environmental Significance (MNES). These include:

  • National Heritage places
  • Ramsar wetlands of international importance
  • Listed threatened species and ecological communities
  • Listed migratory species, and more.

Our EPBC Act referral is now open for public viewing and comment. We invite stakeholders and community members to review the submission and provide feedback via the following link: Open for comments · EPBC Act Public Portal.

The period for public comment closes on 25/03/2025.

Following the public comment period, we expect the project to be deemed a controlled action, meaning it will require a detailed environmental assessment under the EPBC Act. The Minister will consider all information and feedback before making a determination on the appropriate assessment process.

We expect there will be another opportunity for public comment later in the process once more detailed documentation is published.

We appreciate your interest and encourage your participation in this important process.
