State Planning Approval
Captains Mountain Wind Farm Pty Ltd will be seeking planning approval for the proposed Captains Mountain Wind Farm under State Code 23: Wind Farm Development within the State Development Assessment Provisions. This will require a development application to be prepared by an independent and suitably qualified environmental consultant.
The project will require approval from the Department for State Development, Infrastructure, Local Government and Planning (DSDILGP), and this will be facilitated through the State Assessment and Referral Agency (SARA). Various government agencies and regulatory bodies may be called upon to provide input to the development application and approval decision.
Federal EPBC Approval
Captains Mountain Wind Farm Pty Ltd will refer the proposed development to the Australian Government Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water (DCCEEW) regarding matters considered in the Commonwealth Environment Protection and Biodiversity (EPBC) Act. This initial referral will lead to a determination of the assessment requirements, and the pathway that will be required for approval under the EPBC Act.
Detailed biodiversity assessments are being conducted to ensure any potential impacts to key animal and plant species and ecological communities are carefully considered and addressed.
